Webster is a young spider being cautioned by his dad that there is a time and place for everything, especially Webster's noisy toys and gadgets. Whaley uses personification effectively to play out a situation that happens over and over again in human families. Daddy spider tells Webster, those pesky things must be put away when eating, bathing, reading, going to bed, etc. But Webster turns the tables on dad by pointing out that adults must also turn them on when cooking, driving, or interacting with other family members.

Simple but cute and effective black and white illustration hit the mark in making sure that preschoolers and early elementary school readers get the point. Recommended for preschoolers through second grade. Great book to read aloud for family or classroom discussion.

Webster Manners Webster Technology Book 4 edition by Hannah Whaley Children eBooks Reviews

My 7 year old granddaughter gave this book 3 stars because it was so short and only about manners. She wanted to have a longer story. Personally, I liked how there were manner reminders for parents as well as children. As adults we often forget that we are being watched too.
Webster's Manners (Webster Technology Book 4)
Illustrated children's book about Webster and how he's taught to put flashy beeping noisy things away when he's eating dinner, taking a bath and getting ready for bed.
He is also able to teach the adults in his life about the same restrictions in a nice way.
Rhyming book. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
I loved the illustrations. I loved the storyline. I am excited to read this book to kids. It teaches an important lesson to everyone, from small children to adults. This is the kind of story we need today, because as adults, we have a tendency to point the finger at the younger generation when we're just as guilty when it comes to 'mis-handling' this new technology. It's supposed to keep us connected, but often drives us apart.
I love this series of books and I always add one to my kindle library when I see that it is free, which is the case with this book. I have a baby girl as well as a brother who has a social disorder and these books are great to help them understand what manners are and why they are important. Both my brother and my daughter love the characters and the stylistic approach the illustrator took to the story. I look forward to other books in this series becoming free as well.
The title doesn't really fit, but I thought this book was great! The pictures are simple and still get the point across. The lines are ready to read aloud and have a wonderful cadence I often find missing in other simple stories I read to my sub at bedtime. The best part is the turning of tables as a reminder to adults that kids need a good example to follow.
My son said "We liked this book SO SO SO SO MUCH!"
I got this book for my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter, as we had just been talking about how the little ones see so many electronics, they don't even realize there is a time and a place. She enjoyed the book, and listened until the end, but was not interested enough to read it again. I don't know why. Maybe the illustrations could have been a little brighter or maybe changed a bit to keep her interested. I am not giving up on the book because I thing it is a good lesson and maybe my grandson will enjoy it when he is a bit older.
Great book for reminding us to teach our children about the correct time and place for electronics. Also a great reminder for us adults.
My kids love these Webster books. This is the third one we've read and it always seems to stick with my five year old. He's teaching me as much as the book is teaching him. When a meltdown from electronics starts to happen, I pull out this book and say "let's read about Webster".
I would definitely recommend this book to parents who are trying to teach their kids about technology.
